Stolen Bike! Great Support from everyone
around me!
Thursday the 24th May 2007, 6:15pm just
clocked off from work, going home to load up my bike to take to Wormy's
house to do the final touches before the Keyneton Reliability Trial on
Saturday. Parked the car out the front of the house ready to load the
trailer and my wonderful beast of a bike, roller door not
working.....strange, lights are on in the house....strange, I'm thinking
maybe my grandparents have been in today as it is their house and I am
looking after it for them. Open the door, mud foot prints on the carpet,
and I just knew.... my world came to an end. I've been broken
into!!!!!!! I immediately ran outside to where my bike had been stored
and absolute devastation ripped through me. My bike was gone!!!!!!! As
far as I was concerned my world had come to an end. I was absolutely
devastated, gutted, upset and sobbing hysterically. I called a few
people one being my mum and then contacted the police.
They looked around, investigated but
could not trace for fingerprints as the low life thiefs were pretty
good, They have jimmied open the bathroom window and ransacked the
house. Everything of value to me and what I needed the most for my
riding was gone!!! They took my bike, jerry cans, tie downs, gear bag
with nearly all my gear in it, rego papers, jewellery and money from the
GMCC. I was absolutely devastated, there are no other words for it.
Thursday night I stayed with some friends
as I didn't want to be in my own home. On Friday the offers of people
buying me new gear, lending me bikes and gear came in thick and fast. It
was overwhelming and I couldn't believe how generous people are. I had
the choice of about 6 bikes to ride for sat and I eventually went with
the SA Dirt Bikes GAS GAS 450 that Evan offered me. (Thank you to Evan
and the crew at SA Dirt Bikes) I was over the moon that I was still able
to ride but still devastated that someone could take the one thing away
that I am so passionate about and love doing. I have grown up with bikes
all my life and the last 18 months have been probably the best months of
my life as I absolutely love riding and competing. I have big goals for
myself and am very hard on myself. I am constantly getting shity with
myself because I've dropped her again or I should have taken another
line etc. I am wanting to improve all the time!!!!!!!
Sat comes and goes and another finish is
achieved, keeping my straight run intact!!!!!!! I come into main and my
brother comes running up saying "we think they have found your bike" I
start crying, I'm over the moon but reluctant to believe them til I see
my baby. Then I hear the terrible news that a fellow competitor had been
killed while competing in the event, so it is was just a roller coaster of
emotions. I lost my father in a speedway accident 21 years ago and it
brings home all those emotions and the real dangers of our sport!!!!
Phone call from a friend to say she has
my bike....... Excitement all around the camp!!!!!! We drive home, stop
in to see my bike and I get the news that she is not in the same
condition that she left my house in..... Cant be too bad I thought, she
was only gone for 2 days. Shock and excitement, she is rideable but very
stripped. Now the headache of getting her ready for Robertstown.
2 weeks and the count down is on. I am
madly ordering parts and comparing prices from several different
companies as a lot of money has to be spent. A lot of time is spent in
Wormy's shed fitting new parts and getting her ready for the long
weekend in June. Thanks to Sue for the meals I had at their house that
week while we spent endless hours working on my bike. Parts were lent
from bikes here, there and every where, the credit card got a good work
out and my family helped me out with cash donations. I had new gear
bought for me from very special friends and I am ready to rock and roll.
Bring on the long weekend.
Robertstown is run and won with Sat not
being the best ride for me, but Sunday, well that is another story on
its own. I felt fantastic. I was riding really well and felt really
confident, in fact my family told me off for riding too fast!!!!!!! Get
real, I'm loving this event and for the first time ever, I actually felt
amazing out there. When the results came in I was over the moon. I had
beaten 25 other people and was placed in the low 40's. My best results
ever!!!!!!!!!
Strip the borrowed parts off, return them
to the owners, take of the broken parts and send back for a replacement
- need to not drop the bike as much!!!! Order the parts that I borrowed
and set my sights on the 24hr Trial.
Draw night - Number 71. I have decided
that while all this money is being spent, why not go for bigger and
better lights as I struggled with my lights in the 24 last year. With
only a week and a half to go for the biggest event of the year, I have
parts on order and friends on standby to get my bike ready for 12:11pm
on Sat 14th July.
Wow, what a month and a half. I would
honestly not be where I am without all the help from my family and
friends. Thank you to every one who has helped me out, you guys mean the
world to me and your help is always appreciated. I thank you from the
bottom of my heart and I am so happy that I can continue competing in
this great sport of ours.
You guys have helped keep my dream
alive!!!!!!!
