Chris started in trials in 1975 as passenger with Des Chabrel on a 650 BSA sidecar. Won the Sidecar Passenger Star Award with Mark Akland in 1979. Since 1981 he has ridden his own outfits, winning the Star Award for riders in 1981, winning every trial except Robertstown where he finished 2nd to Carl Fuller.

In 1987 he started riding the Boltons Kawasaki 4 cylinder Wasp outfit with Colin Daddow as passenger. The outfit was first ridden in 1982 by George Bolton. Chris and Colin, with Team Manager Des Chabrel used the outfit in the 1996 Australian Safari to be the 1st and so far only sidecar to complete an Australian Safari.

Since 1987, this bike has always finished in the top 10 and 1st in class. Highest place was 5th in 2005.
